Environmental problems such as vibration and air blast are often faced and discussed in mining, quarrying, civil construction, shaft tunnel, pipeline, and dam operations, where blasting is inevitable. It is necessary to establish national standards in order to minimize environmental problems induced by blasting and judicial matters in our country as it is in the USA, European Union (EU) countries, and other developed countries. This necessity and the obligation of Turkey, which has started the procedure of joining the EU, to accept EU criteria emphasize the importance of this study. In other words, the establishment of a particular national standard related with this subject is inevitable for Turkey. This will be possible only by studying and applying scientific methods and techniques by experts. This paper presents a new damage criterion norm for blast-induced ground vibrations in Turkey. In this study, first, numerous vibration records were taken in blasting operations performed at different sites and rock units. For these rock units, particle velocity predictions and frequency analysis were done. At the same time, structures in the neighborhoods of these blasts were also observed and investigated. Finally, a damage criterion norm based on risk analysis was established and proposed by using these collected data. In light of the norm to be obtained from the data that were collected in the research, it will lead the excavation work in our country to be performed in such way that they are more effective and will cause minimum environmental problems.  相似文献

In this study, the characteristics of sewage of small community were determined for 6 months to ascertain the type of treatment required in subtropical conditions. The results demarcated sewage of this community as a medium-strength wastewater (chemical oxygen demand: 475 mg/L, biochemical oxygen demand: 240 mg/L and total suspended solids: 434 mg/L). Chemical oxygen demand to sulphate ratio of the sewage (11.6) established that it was amenable to anaerobic digestion. The temperature, strength, biodegradability and components of sewage were suitable for anaerobic digestion, and thus, upflow anaerobic sludge blanket reactor (UASB) was selected for its treatment. These reactors are often shutdown in small communities due to environmental and/or socio-economic factors. The ability of two UASB reactors, seeded with cow dung (UASBCD) and activated sludge of a dairy treatment plant (UASBASDIT) to restart after a long idle period of 12 months, was investigated along with sludge analysis by scanning electron microscope. Biomass in both reactors reactivated rapidly after shutdown period and within 30 days after substrate feeding achieved uniform removal efficiencies for chemical oxygen demand, total suspended solids, total dissolved solids, chloride and oil and grease. Chemical oxygen demand removal efficiency of both reactors became uniform and remained close to 80% after 30 days through reactivation of microbes in sludge bed due to adequate food and temperature conditions. During restart-up, at an average organic loading rate of 0.902 kg COD/m3 per day, methane yields of 0.091 and 0.084 m3/kg COD removed were achieved for UASBCD and UASBASDIT reactors, respectively.  相似文献

Low-grade metamorphic rocks of Paleozoic–Mesozoic age to the north of Konya, consist of two different groups. The Silurian–Lower Permian Sizma Group is composed of reefal complex metacarbonates at the base, and flyschoid metaclastics at the top. Metaigneous rocks of various compositions occur as dykes, sills, and lava flows within this group. The ?Upper Permian–Mesozoic age Ardicli Group unconformably overlies the Sizma Group and is composed of, from bottom to top, coarse metaclastics, a metaclastic–metacarbonate alternation, a thick sequence of metacarbonate, and alternating units of metachert, metacarbonates and metaclastics. Although pre-Alpine overthrusts can be recognized in the Sizma Group, intense Alpine deformation has overprinted and obliterated earlier structures. Both the Sizma and Ardicli Groups were deformed, and metamorphosed during the Alpine orogeny. Within the study area evidence for four phases of deformation and folding is found. The first phase of deformation resulted in the major Ertugrul Syncline, overturned tight to isoclinal and minor folding, and penetrative axial planar cleavage developed during the Alpine crustal shortening at the peak of metamorphism. Depending on rock type, syntectonic crystallization, rotation, and flattening of grains and pressure solution were the main deformation mechanisms. During the F2-phase, continued crustal shortening produced coaxial Type-3 refolded folds, which can generally be observed in outcrop with associated crenulation cleavage (S2). Refolding of earlier folds by the noncoaxial F3-folding event generated Type-2 interference patterns and the major Meydan Synform which is the largest map-scale structure within the study area. Phase 3 structures also include crenulation cleavage (S3) and conjugate kink folds. Further shortening during phase 4 deformation also resulted in crenulation cleavage and conjugate kink folds. According to thin section observations, phases 2–4 crenulation cleavages are mainly the result of microfolding with pressure solution and mineral growth.  相似文献

The paper studied by Yong-chi Li and R.F. Shen (2007) includes some problems regarding the application of the proposed Neural Network (NN) approach. A very limited number of data has been used as testing set (only 3 among 52 data sets) which should be 20–30% of the database. The NN application in the study is not a function approximation problem where same input must always lead to the same output. NNs cannot be used for such an application. Moreover the generalization capability of the NN model has not been investigated. This discussion, aims to points out controversial points of the paper.  相似文献

This study presents an extended shoreline detection approach from pansharpened images of Turkish RASAT satellite which covers red, green and blue bands of the optical spectrum with 15 m ground resolution and panchromatic band with 7.5 m spatial resolution. The Lake Ercek of Turkey has been selected as the study area, which is a tectonic lake and home to a variety of water birds. The satellite images of the lake taken in 2013 and 2014 were considered for analysis. The proposed shoreline extraction system consists of a sequence of image processing steps in which simple linear clustering (SLIC) and particle swarm optimization (PSO) are the main components. SLIC was used to create superpixels that form basis for object-based image analysis while PSO was employed for classifying objects into corresponding classes. The resulting images still contained unwanted artefacts; therefore, a post-processing step was performed to improve the accuracy of segmentation by applying thresholding, morphological processing, and manual editing for noise removal. The proposed framework was applied on two temporal RASAT images to test the variations of defined parameter settings. The success of the proposed system was to obtain shorelines with satisfying accuracy without using NIR band. Finally, the extracted shorelines were vectorised and compared with manually digitized shorelines from pansharpened satellite images for accuracy assessment.  相似文献

Micropollutants cover a variety of compounds that mainly originate from the pharmaceutical and agricultural sectors. Even at trace concentrations, the discharge of micropollutants into water bodies pose a serious threat to the environment and human health. Their removal from wastewaters at treatment plants before their discharge into the environment has become one of the leading topics of research. Physical, chemical, and biological treatment methods have been listed in the literature for efficient removal of a variety of pollutants. In this study, seven micropollutants, namely 4‐tert‐octylphenol, atrazine, 2,4,6‐trichlorophenol, fluoxetine, estrone, penconazole, and di‐n‐octyl phthalate, are spiked into municipal simulated synthetic wastewater and treated by a laboratory‐scale electrooxidation (EO) system using oxidized titanium and graphite electrode as anode and cathode, respectively. Sensitive determination of the selected micropollutants by gas chromatography–mass spectrometry (GC‐MS) before and after treatment is performed after their pre‐concentration using an eco‐friendly switchable solvent liquid‐phase microextraction method (SSLPME). The pH value, applied current, and reaction period are optimized to enhance the removal efficiency of micropollutants. Results show that the highest removal efficiency of all micropollutants is obtained at pH 3, 20 min reaction period, and 3 A applied current. The operational costs are also investigated in this study.  相似文献
